Principal's MessageTheodore Gibson Oratorical Project

The Theodore Gibson Oratorical Project is dedicated to exposing children to the wide breadth of writings about the Black experience throughout the Diaspora. The project seeks to provide an opportunity for school children to discover and refine public speaking skills through a    comprehensive and challenging level of learning and competition.

Kenwood K-8 Center would like to congratulate third grade students, Victoria Robles and Andres-Daniel Azel, fifth grade student, Connor Shatz, and seventh grade student, Arturo      Gomez. These students will be representing our school in the Theodore Gibson Oratorical    Contest. Mrs. Kemp and Mrs. Warner will be assisting these students in preparation for the competition. The elementary school students will compete on Friday, March 21, 2008. The  Secondary school students will compete on Thursday, March 27, 2008. The final competition and awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday May, 14, 2008.

We wish our students well!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy New Year and welcome back to school! I hope that everyone had a very relaxing and joyful winter recess. We look forward to continued academic and social success for our students as we begin 2008.

With the first semester drawing to a close, we prepare to enter the second semester energized and ready to keep putting forth our best efforts. While our faculty and staff work diligently to prepare our students for upcoming testing, we also continue to plan activities that will broaden and enrich our students’ educational experiences.

Please continue to check the Kenwood Times for meeting and event information. Reading the newsletter each month is a great way to keep informed. As always, thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation. Together we will continue to accomplish great things for our students.

Sincerely,

Moraima Almeida-Perez, Principal
